Ideal participants for Veteran Talent Academy are Civilian Veteran Champions who want to jump-start or improve your company’s best practices for hiring and retaining former military professionals.
Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, DE/I leaders, Chairs of Veteran Employee Resource Groups, including their Executive Sponsors, as well as Talent Development teammates are particularly well suited for this course.

Onboarding Tips:

  • Start onboarding before their first day of work
  • Pair him/her with a supportive Veteran and civilian employee
  • Check-in regularly, after one week, 30-90-120 days
  • Emphasize on-the-job-training
  • Provide one employee benefits point of contact

Retention Best Practices:

  • Emphasize how the Veterans’ job accomplishes the company’s mission and purpose
  • Immerse Veterans in your Veteran Employee Resource Group or a “Veterans’ Voice” committee
